Apologies for the old photos but I just got on Oppo.

Also apologies for the heavy Lotus representation...I’m a huge fan.

Confession - The 918 does not look as good in real life as it does in pictures. I loved the 918 until I saw one. Also, it’s much bigger than it looks. I’ll take a 959 please.

Kinja'd!!!

For those of you who don’t know I caught a glimpse of a Ferrari 412 on our way out. Such a pretty car that has aged extremely well. My mom and I stupidly talked my Dad out of buying one of these in the early 90’s because it was “ugly.” Looking at it now it seems like such a pretty and well proportioned car. Plus big v12, plus gated shifter!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Look at the fine British craftsmanship on the door panel gap, and the weatherstripping between the window and door.

Kinja'd!!!

And the next generation....

I was just looking at those and thinking how a Lotus should be my next car after the FR-S...

Even if posting Lotii were wrong (it isn’t), the yellow TR would make up for quite a lot. Not many Ferraris I like much (oddly), but those? GIB

Agreed. I’ve seen TR’s in Red (obviously), Black, Cocaine White, and Yellow and the Yellow is probably my second favorite after black.

This is the first yellow one I’ve seen and I am surprised there wasn’t more people gawking over it like I was.

Also, for the record, I like the 512tr more than the Testarossa for whatever reason.

Great photos! Love the classic Ferrari, and could not agree more on the 959 vs. 918 perspective.

I’ve loved the 400/412 ever since I was a kid and saw Rainman. Nope, it wasn’t the barrage of Countachs, or the other classics in the garage. It was Charlie Babbit’s DD.

For whatever reason I’ve never really liked Ford GT’s. I actually liked the C6 z06 more than the Ford GT...there, I said it.

To each his/her own. It would be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing.

the s2 esprits are by far the best looking car lotus ever produced. not as... unfinished (?) as the s1, and not as overladen with tack-on body work as the s3.

the elise/exige is nice, pretty too, but its diminutive size makes them appear more like toys than automobiles.

has anyone else noticed in their ebay browse sessions (come on, i know you all do it) that testarossas are out in full force recently?

2-3 years ago, there may have been 2 listed at any given time, with buy it nows in the 50-60k range. now there are nearly a dozen and asking prices well in the six figures.

i wonder if these are actually trading, or if everyone is just looking to cash out.

Both. Values for Testarossas (as well as 512 TR’s and 512 M’s) have all been increasing lately. They are selling for higher prices than they were several years ago, and people are looking to cash out on that. Also, see recent car auctions, like RM. There have been a few very low mile examples selling for pretty high prices because of the new-found desirability of these models. You’ll notice the same thing with 308s as well, there are quite a few more for sale and selling now (and at higher prices) than just a year or so ago.

S4 for me. My particular favorite is the 1996 S4s. 300+hp from a 4 cylinder in the 90’s.

I think the people who drooled over these cars as kids (me) are starting to get some disposable income (not me, don’t have kids).

Also its a pretty unique car: 1) Flat 12, 2) mid engine, 3) gated shifter, 4) still good looking.

Who knows when Ferrari will make another flat 12, much less a non-hypercar mid-engined 12 cylinder car.

I might be wrong. I think the one you like (which I also like) is an S3.

My favorite is apparently referred to as the “Julian Thomson redesign” but I’ve always called it as S4 because the 93 model was called the S4 and the 94-96 4 cylinders were called the S4s and then replaced by the v8.

those “julians” certainly are solid cars... and i’m sure much “better” cars than the previous models. but i still love those angles. like the kid who just learned how to use a protractor. :)
